Matt played his collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota Mankato. After college he had a brief professional playing career then joined league operations staff for the UHL. Matt then went on to join the staff of USA Hockey as the Assistant Director of Coaching Education for the better part of a decade.

Matt currently is the Assistant coach for the Dartmouth Womens NCAA D1 hockey program.
